Prizes
were awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd. P. Gordon won the grading
prize. S. Thacker received the trophy for the best tournament
performance, having finished 4th when he was seeded 9th. A.
Irving and R. Williams shared the best game prize, awarded
by Tyson Mordue. (I notice that they were bot h too modest
to mention that in their recent mails to the group!)

J. Lidstone had to withdraw from the tournament.
Prizes
were awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd. S. Watkins received the
Ladies Trophy.
In
addition to the main chess events there was also a Quick-Play
tournament, which was won by C. Ro ss with S. Burnell coming
a close second following a very exciting play off. Other highlights
of t he week included Sheila Milsom's Quiz, various excursions
to local tourist attractions, a theatre v isit and the Bring
and Buy Sale, which, together with Sheila's raffle, raised
around £300. On the last night the prize giving ceremony
was attended by FIDE Treasurer, David Jarrett and his wife,
Va lentina. Afterwards, we were treated to some music by BCA
pianists, including Stan Lovell, Bobby B rown, Alan Davey,
Phillipa Burnell and Alastair Irving. (Sorry if I have missed
anyone out.) Ther e was singing and dancing and a good time
was had by all.
No
doubt, a fuller report will appear in the Gazette in due course,
but in the meantime, I hope this will satisfy the curiosity
of those who were unable to attend! Individual game results
for both events follow.
