At
it's A.G.M. in March 2008, the B.C.A. adopted two resolutions
designed to broaden it's support to their grass roots members.
The
first of these resolutions fixed a 50 percent subsidy on the
accommodation
costs of the Stephen Eastwick-Field memorial Tournament. This
event
is limited to players whose grade is 130 or below and includes
coaching
sessions alongside a six round tournament.
The
second resolution was more far reaching. A fund will be set
up to give financial
support to average players entering a mainstream event. In
particular,
it is hoped this will encourage those who are less experienced
at Tournament play, and who may have been daunted by the thought
of attending a mainstream event without help, to venture forth
with financial assistance
for themselves and for their chosen companion. This project
will be
up and running by the Autumn of 2008.
