British Chess Problem Solving final at Oakham

Congratulations to Paul Cumbers on his finishing third in this year's event behind winner GM John Nunn and defending champion GM Jonathan Mestel in the British Championship for problem solving. The world champion, solving in a parallel open event, beat the scores of the Brits but he is a phenemonal solver. Paul scored points in all six rounds and helped Bill Armstrong feel a little less out of his depth between the rounds with some consoling comments.

Bill  managed in the end to pick up the prize for best new finalist but scored in only three of the six rounds.
