London Masters and Others II 3.5 - 2.5 Braille Chess Association

Report

Sadly, due to the illness of Steve Hilton, the team had to default board 6. This was the first time the team had to do this and it just seemed as though circumstances were completely against us. We were pitted against a weak team, but just couldn’t find the finishing touches.

Tyson and Chris got excellent wins on the top two boards but things trailed of after that. Steve Burnell had a solid if unambitious draw on board 3. Richard Murphy had an unfortunate mix up of tactics on board 5 and went down relatively quickly. Alastair on board 5 had the best chance to get something from the match.
Having been a clear passed pawn up and simply outplaying his opponent, he went for active play and pushed too hard, blundering all of his advantage away and then the game.

So, damage control is under way and we will now have to make sure we start racking up some points in the following rounds.
